Description
Looking southeast from the southern tip of Plaza Park across Market Street toward the Hotel Sainte Claire. One automobile is parked in front of the hotel entrance and others along the street at the side of the hotel. The Hotel Sainte Claire was the result of local developer T.S. Montgomery's ambition to open the finest hotel between Los Angeles and San Francisco. The hotel was built at a cost of $750,000 at the corner of Market and San Carlos Streets and opened in 1926. The hotel is now part of the Larkspur Hotel Group.
