Description
Annotation translation: "Burial-place of the head of a family. Over the grave of a head of family a hut is built made of palm leaves. People bring the deceased offerings in the form of food and drink. This boy brought a calabash full of palm wine to the hut, which he poured out over the dead man's grave." Annotation: "Grabstätte eines Familienvaters. Über dem Grab eines Familienvaters wird eine Hütte aus Palmblättern erstellt. Darin bringt man dem Toten Opfer dar in Form von Speisen & Getränken. Dieser Knabe trug eine Kürbisflasche voll Palmwein in die Hütte, den er über dem Grab des Toten ausgeschüttet hat." Stamped: "Museum der Basler Mission, Basel, Missionsstrasse 21."
