Description
Photograph of a Shriners Float from La Fiesta in Los Angeles, ca.1906. A woman in a light-colored dress sits at the helm of an automobiles that has been decorated to the point that only the wheels still show a wooden framework rests on top of a bed of what appear to be fern fronds. Light-colored roses gild it along its edges and on decorative plaques that have been hung from the side. A figurine approximately two feet high appears to be either a scarecrow or a gingerbread man, and is positioned towards the back of the float. Finally, a sun-like ornament has been affixed to the top of the wooden frame. Diaphanous ribbons extend from it like a maypole. The card on the float reads "B8". A house is visible in the background beyond the sidewalk and trees. Horse manure is visible in the paved street.
