With the aid of Valley Times, staff photographer Jeff Robbins, police yesterday captured a grand theft suspect who, with two accomplices they said, had taken $657 worth of merchandise from Lisa's Gown Shop, 12426 Ventura Blvd., Studio City. Photograph article dated April 3, 1964 partially reads, "Fashion editor Joan Schmitt and I were returning from a food photograph assignment when I heard the theft call on the police radio in my car. Almost immediately I spotted the suspect's car coming toward me on Ventura, and I made a U-turn in the middle of traffic so I could pursue it. At this point, Joan, despite her petrified look, cried, 'Oh, how exciting!' 'Sure,' I said. The suspects soon noticed we were chasing them - they should have noticed, Joan observed, since I was driving on the wrong side of Ventura Boulevard - and they sped up to 70 m.p.h." Pictured is Mrs. Schmitt.
