Description
A woman in the costume of Marie Touchet, the only mistress of King Charles IX of France. The woman wears a black, long-sleeved dress with a pattern and gold detailing along the hem, down the sleeves, along the front, and around the collar. The pattern on the fabric suggests brocade. She wears a small white lace ruff, and small white lace cuffs. Her underdress is royal blue with gold detailing. She wears a black bonnet with gold detailing and a black veil that almost reaches the ground. She gazes right, where she has her hand held out as if she is accepting something.
