Since the preparation of food is a career as well as a fascinating hobby, Norma has collected recipes in all her travels. She has made six trips to Hawaii, where she visits her friend Erma Meeks Boyen, director of the Hawaiian Electric Home Service Department. Mrs. Boyen is the wife of Colonel William Boyen of the U.S. Army, so when Norma visits them, she has the opportunity to see and learn of Hawaii from many angles." Photograph caption reads, "Tropical salads - Mrs. Young of Sherman Oaks uses fresh pineapples as the basis of Hawaiian salads. She cuts them in half and stuffs them with canned and fresh fruit."
