Description
The photo caption printed in the Sacramento Bee on October 21, 1974 states: "Twin ribbons of concrete that will become Interstate 5, someday to link Sacramento and Stockton, have rolled across the neck of Beach Lake, south of the town of Freeport. Large buildings in downtown Sacramento are visible in the distance in the (subject) photo above as the roadway twists past Sam Brannan Junior High School (center of photo at fir right) and crosses 43rd Avenue (lower right). It is expected that traffic will be moving along this section to Meadowview Road before the end of the year. In the photo at right, dual straightaways trace to a finish just across the neck of the lake."
