Description
Photograph. "New view of Prudential Insurance Company Western Home Office building on Wilshire Boulevard." -- typed note attached to verso, dated 25 February 1952. The building was designed by architects Welton D. Becket and Walter Wurdeman, and Ruth Shellhorn, the landscape architect. Completed in 1948, this notable modernist building was famous for its "eyebrows" (extruded aluminum canopies over the west-facing facade) designed to provide some shading without breaking the clean minimalism of the design of the exterior.
