Description
2018-2091. Bust-length portrait. Born in New York State in 1835, married Halsey Fenimore Cooper in 1855, came to California in 1869. Settled in San Francisco, worked for Overland Monthly as writer, established Golden Gate Kindergarten Association and was active in free kindergarten movement; early suffragist. Appointed to State Board of Lady Managers for the 1893 Columbian Exposition in Chicago. Died in 1896. From: Peterson's magazine, July 1893 (vol. 1, no. 58), p. 675.
