Description
Featured on page 56 of Connie Young Yu's "Chinatown, San Jose, U.S.A.," with caption: The temple with guardian effigies during Da Jui, "Feast of the Hungry Ghosts." These huge figures made of paper mache were burned at the last evening of the festival to satisfy the spirits. This image is also seen on page 146 of Jessie Juliet Knox's book, "In the house of the tiger," captioned, "The gigantic figure of Quan Foo-Chi and his brother."
