Description
Photograph of the exterior of the First Congregational Church in Santa Barbara, 1875. The brick church building is at the center of the image, its tall spire rising on the right side. There are several tall, thin arched windows in the wall, and a chimney is visible sticking up from the back of the roof on the left side. There is a man standing on the steps leading to the entrance of the church, and he is leaning on a wall. In the foreground, a pair of carriages, as well as two mounted equestrians, have gathered on the street. The carriages are both open, four-wheeled, single-horse vehicles. The one on the right has two men, one of them driving, and a woman holding an umbrella, while the carriage on the right has a single woman inside.
