Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph caption dated October 27, 1960 reads, "A 600-ton span of freshly poured concrete forming a bridge across the Golden State Freeway at Allesandro street and Riverside drive in Los Angeles collapsed at noon Wednesday. Jerry Olson, a state concrete inspector, who was standing on the span, said, 'I heard it crack and jumped. Six men rode it down, but none was injured.' Construction workers are shown here pouring sugar on the ruined concrete to keep from hardening. Damage was estimated at $200,000."
