Description
Image of the Corliss steam engine as exhibited at the United States Centennial Exhibition held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1876; a well-dressed man and woman stand in front of the engine at right and are dwarfed by its size; stairs run up to various platforms for operating or maintaining the machinery, "Geo. H. Corliss Providence R.I." is lettered along the side of the apparatus.
Date supplied by cataloger based on style of dress and date of the United States Centennial Exhibition. "Cosack & Co. Chromo-Lith. Buffalo, N.Y."--text, bottom right margin.
