Description
Photograph of surfers riding waves at a Los Angeles County Beach, 1950-1960. A wave is breaking at center and five surfers are attempting to ride it into shore away from the viewer. Three surfers are sitting on their boards in the foreground at right, waiting for the next wave. In the distance, several people can be seen wading in the shallow water near the shore. The picture file card reads: "The Hawaiian sport of surf board riding has justly found a deserved popularity on Los Angeles County beaches, as evidenced by the above scene of several intrepid young fellows who are riding the combers".
