Annotation translation: "Young Mbororo woman. The plaits hanging down in front of her ears indicate that she is unmarried. Married women wear their plaits towards the back of their heads. One cannot decide what to admire more - her beautiful countenance with its mild expression, the thick hair hanging down in its plaits, or the rich adornments on her ears and around her neck. The Mbororo are a tall, slim, brown people. They keep large herds of cattle, and move from place to place, as Abraham once did." Annotation: "Mbororo-Tochter, als unverheiratete Tochter erkenntlich an den Haarzöpfen, die vor dem Ohr heruntergehen, während die verheiratete Frau ihre Zöpfe nach hinten kämmt. Man weiss nicht, was man mehr bewundern soll, ob das schöne Gesicht mit dem milden Ausdruck, oder die langen, wie dicke Schnüre herabhängenden Zöpfe, oder den reichen Schmuck um Hals & Ohren.
