Description
This interior view of Mercy Hospital at 4001 J Street shows the building’s lobby in circa 1928. All patients and visitors entered the hospital on the second floor via steps. In doing so, they were met with the pictured lobby and admissions window. To the right of the window were administrative offices where the records of the institution were kept, in addition to consultation rooms and offices for resident physicians and the hospital chaplain. To the left of the lobby was the entrance to the southwest wing of the hospital and the first rooms dedicated to patient care.
