Photograph was edited for publication purposes The name of the library was changed from North Hollywood Sidney Lanier Regional Branch to North Hollywood Amelia M. Earhart Regional Branch in 1980. Photograph caption dated June 22, 1957 reads "Here's how library looks now. Trees and other plantings frame picturesque Sidney Lanier (North Hollywood) regional library designed in Spanish style. Year-long face-lifting enlarged library from 4,897 to 7,700 square feet. Investment of $50,000 in new books expanded collection from 45,000 to 65,000 volumes, including more magazines and special periodicals in adult reference room. New furniture and files were installed throughout to bring more comfort and conveniences to book lovers. Library expansion filled need brought about by influx of new residents."
