Description
Photograph caption dated May 25, 1987 reads, "Hypothetical disaster involving a school bus and tanker truck was the scenario of a three-hour emergency drill involving about 250 volunteers yesterday at Paramount Boulevard and Mines Avenue. The drill had been in the planning stages for several years, in conjunction with the opening in 1984 of the city's Emergency Operations Center. Volunteers from 34 agencies joined in the effort. Four hospitals participated in the drill, taking the patients who portrayed being seriously injured. Those who had minor injuries were taken to a separate emergency treatment center set up by the Red Cross."
