Provenance
Two unidentified early owners: in the lower margin of f. 1, an erased coat of arms within a crown of laurel leaves; in the right margin, a later coat of arms tied to a lion's head with a red ribbon: azure, a calf salient parted or and argent. Belonged, s. XVII, to "Bartolomeo" whose ex libris is on f. i: "Hunc ego nempe librum possideo Bartolomeus __one word erased___"; later owned by Giambattista Guaspari of Gallicano (in the province of Lucca?), whose ex libris are on f. i. (written over the previous one), "Battista Guaspari MDCCLXXV" and on the back pastedown, "Di Gio. Battista Guaspari di Gallicano 1775." On f. 117, below the text, in 2 hands, "L.6" and "non nominare il suo nome in vano." Owned by Henry William Poor (1844-1915), his ex libris on the front pastedown; his sale, Anderson, New York, 17 November 1908, pt. I, n. 803 to Friedman. Precise source and date of acquisition by Henry E. Huntington unknown.
