Photograph of a lithograph depicting Sacremento miners celebrating the arrival of the first supply boat, August 19, 1849. Fourteen men stand and sit on the grassy bank in the foreground, waving their mining tools as the riverboat in the distance, called the Steamer Edward Everett, makes its way toward them. A large smokestack extends from the top of the boat, billowing smoke. To the left, palm trees and poplar trees line the shore. Hills can be seen in the distance. Picture file card reads "The captain was W.V. Wells".
