Description
A view of Crocker Ranch in Loomis, California. From the notes written by Alma Senia Nassi Larsen attached to the negatives: "Packing at Crocker Ranch We camped at the Crocker Ranch 1921 after 3 years working for Rudolph Nixon and Frae Denton. Nixon would come get us each morning and bring us back home at night or after work. We rode in his Hudson Super Six - Nixon used to tell us his brother willed him $200 a month as long as he lived. We had a lot of experiences at Nixon ranch learning how to pack, etc. But we thought the Crocker Ranch would be more super. Close to the American River. We had our tent to sleep in, an awning put up for our kitchen and we had brought all the stuff from home. Every nite we'd take off to the RIver for a swim. At that time they were hydraulicking up in the hills and the river was red water. I almost drowned the 1st time we went down there. Jenny was going to teach me to swim and we got in a deep hole and I went down and grabbed Jenny and we both almost got it; as I got up I held my hand out Maiela caught it and pulled me out. I owe my life to her. It was a close call. Jenny, Aili, Mait, Rachel, Ino, Kitra, me workd for Crocker. Wallen's also were camped there - and there were the Carters (Rose his wife) - he later was Loomis Constable - and Carter's brother and family, 2 girls and a boy and Helen. I drew Ritchie's picture and its in my scrapbook. He threw a soft peach at it. Also we sent another one to the Earl - never heard how he liket it - but old Mrs. Crocker did. She was a Mormon. Her sister lived next door and across the street from Mas in Rocklin."
