Photograph caption dated March 15, 1947 reads, "Two police officers, C. B. Melendrez and T. W. Breen, are shown searching a group of men as the police department revived 'Crime Crushers' campaign to stop a postwar crime wave by setting up road blockades at various sections of the city. The officers found a bottle on the person of one of the men (foreground, left of center). Police said the man had the bottle under his belt and it slipped down his trousers during search."
