Photograph article dated January 11, 1964 partially reads, "Bottled-up sin, if left to age, may bring on one big hangover, a Reseda minister believes. The Rev. E. Fleming Parmer, pastor of the Reseda Church of the Nazarene, feels that sin is the intoxicant which produces fear and guilt, a major cause of mental illness. 'Doctors estimate that 50 to 80 per cent of their patients have nothing organically wrong with them,' Mr. Parmer said. 'Most of their illnesses are mentally induced and, more often than not, they're caused by deep-seated fear and guilt.' Mr. Parmer, who has a special interest in mental health, believes 'it takes a genuine faith in God' to develop a healthy mind and body... Mr. Parmer began his ministry in 1943. He has held pastorates in San Benito and Victoria, Tex.; Edmond and Purcell, Okla., and Udall, Kans. He served as president of the San Benito and Edmond ministerial alliances."
