Photograph caption dated May 6, 1961 reads "The first Valley blood drive in schools begins Monday, when the American National Red Cross Blood Program sends its mobile unit to Ulysses S. Grant High School, 13000 Oxnard St., Van Nuys. Here helping to kick off the campaign, which is limited to donors 18 years of age or older, are baseball coach Joe Gordon, tennis coach Milton Nemiroff and Mrs. Robert Leo, president of the Grant PTA, a co-sponsor of the blood drive."
