Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph article dated April 20, 1963 partially reads, "The dedication and opening of the new 8.4-mile section of the San Diego Freeway brought a lot of people together today. First, there were a number of local, state and federal officials and a crowd of 200 gathered at twin dedication ceremonies on the roadbed of the new section. And there also were several hundred motorists piled up in a massive, 2 1/2-mile traffic jam on Sepulveda Blvd., caused by the closing of the Burbank Blvd. on-and-off ramps." Dedication was held on the northbound lanes of the I-405 at the Vanowen Street overcrossing.
