Description
Photographic portrait of Tadea Julia Olivera de Gagliano at about age six, ca.1883. Tadea is visible standing at center with her arm on a cloth-covered table at left. She can be seen wearing a dark dress that reaches past her knees and which has a pleated edge and a lace collar and cuffs. There is a ribbon in her dark hair at left, and she is holding a flower in her hand at left. The table on which she is resting her arm is covered with a dark cloth, and a small hardcover book can be seen behind Tadea's arm. A painted backdrop showing the foot of a staircase is in the background. Tadea was the cousin of the mother of Ana Begue de Packman and great-great granddaughter of Juan Francisco Reyes, who came to California in 1769, establishing the colony under the rule of Spain in California. She is the great-granddaughter of Maria Antonia Machado de Reyes, and was born on June 16, 1877.
