Description
Photograph of a view of a Cahuilla Indian graveyard showing Ramona at Alessandro's grave, ca.1900. The cemetery is full of small wooden grave markers in the shape of crosses. A handful of graves are surrounded by wooden picket fences. There are several mourners visible, including a woman bending over in the foreground and a man sitting on a rock at right. There is a large rock formation in the background at left. Ramon and Alessandro were Cahuilla Indians upon whom Helen Hunt Jackson based her book Ramona.
