Description
A woman wears a lacy, white morning dress as she breakfasts. Her sleeves are long and trimmed with lace. Vertical, lacy patterns run down the skirt in stripes, and the skirt is edged with five small rows of white lace. The dress has a high, lacy ruff as a collar, and more lace forms a vee that runs down the bodice and continues over the shoulder and down the back of the dress. This vee is set off with bands of purple ribbon. She wears a lacy, white mobcap, which has two purple bows and a lacy chin strap. The woman's shoes and stockings are purple. She sits on a chair with high arms, upholstered in gold. A lacy, white shawl is thrown over one arm of the chair, which is pulled up to a round, pedestal table. The table is ornately carved and covered with a white cloth. A tea service has been set on the table, along with an egg in an egg cup, a plate cutlery, and a toast rack. Written in pencil in the lower left is "1822".
