Pictured is a young woman, identified as Irma B. Williams, holding a loaded avocado branch that has at least nine large fruits dangling from it. She is sitting at the delivery entrance of the Union Wholesale Terminal Market, located on Central and Seventh. Built in 1918 as a replacement for the City Market, this much larger building became the focus of the produce trade in Los Angeles. In 1986, the structure was renovated and renamed the "Los Angeles Wholesale Produce Market". Photograph dated May 19, 1926.
