First photograph caption dated January 25, 1955 reads "Abandoned to rust. Mrs. Lou Butts, left, of 17013 Vanowen Blvd., and Mrs. Alice Arcaria of 17007 Vanowen Blvd., both mothers of small children, are concerned about abandoned autos creating hazards where children play. Cars above have been left in empty lot next to apartment where two women live." The abandoned automobiles are in Van Nuys.; Second photograph caption dated March 4, 1955 reads "As it used to be. This picture of lot next to 17013 Vanowen Blvd. ran in Valley Times Jan. 25, started action that resulted in cars being removed by Department of Public works."; See images #00138283 through #00138286 for all photos in this series.
