The Clarence W. Pierce School of Agriculture is a two-year community college in Woodland Hills, California. It opened in September 1947, with 70 students and 18 faculty members and is part of the Los Angeles Community College District. The school's initial focus was crop cultivation and animal husbandry, and still retains a large swatch of open fields for hands-on working farm training. In 1956 the school was renamed Los Angeles Pierce College.
Photograph caption dated March 15, 1957 reads, "Pretty girl - Pretty flower - Sue Cummings, Reseda High School student, examines rare flower in Pierce College green house. Horticulture and landscape courses attract many students in both day and night school. Tour of campus is set up to correspond with national girls' week March 17-22. Mrs. Marjorie Lord, dean of girls' activities, is in charge of Pierce program."; See images #00135791 through #00135795 for all photos in this series.
