The hotel was built in 1887 but was demolished in 1970 and a bank was built on the site. The caption, written for an article published in 1955, reads, "A sizzling game of croquet on the lawn was always good sport for guests of Hotel Palmyra, part of which still stands. Picture was taken in 1890."
