Photograph of Marin County polymath, bicycling enthusiast, and author Charlie Kelly, to accompany his oral history. Charlie was a mainstay in Marin's bicycling subculture, making friends, racing, and building bikes with such legendary figures as Gary Fisher and Joe Breeze. He was a core member of the pioneering group which put mountain biking on the map. He wrote and published his own magazine during the 1970s, Fat Tire Flyer, which became the title of his definitive history of mountain biking published in 2014.
