Photograph of a crowd gathered around the entrance to the Soldier's Home in Sawtelle to see President McKinley, May 9, 1901. The crowd, made up mostly of men in dark suits, is facing the porch of a large, two-story clapboard building at center. The porch is decorated with American flags and banners, and several official-looking men, including McKinley, can be seen near the steps. Several people are watching from a second-story balcony. A bicycle is visible in the foreground at right, and its wheels and frame have been decorated in a patriotic motif.
