Description
Mrs. Sarah Winchester sits in a carriage about to leave on a drive. The carriage is pulled by two horses and a driver sits in front. Suffering from arthritis and poor health in her later years, Mrs. Winchester was self conscious and did not like to have her picture taken. It is thought this photograph was secretly taken by an employee. Mrs. Winchester would often take drives in her carriage or automobile. Because her arthritis made walking difficult, on shopping trips she would park at the curb and merchants would bring out their goods for her to examine.
