Description
A man walks next to a mule with a load of wood near the town of San Sebastian in the department of San Vicente. Another man is nearby. According to the UN Truth Commission Report on El Salvador, seven years later after this photo was taken, on 21 September 1988, members of the Jiboa Battalion detained 10 people in the village of San Sebastián. That same morning, Major Mauricio Jesús Beltrán Granados, chief of the Intelligence Department of the Fifth Brigade, under orders from Colonel José Emilio Chávez Cáceres, Chief of the Fifth Brigade, ordered all 10 of them executed staging a fictitious ambush.
Un hombre camina junto a una mula con un cargamento de leña cerca de la localidad de San Sebastián en el departamento de San Vicente. Hay otro hombre cerca. Según resolución de la Comisión Interamericana de Derechos Humanos, siete años después de la toma de esta foto, el 21 de septiembre de 1988, miembros del Batallón Jiboa detuvieron a 10 personas en la vereda San Sebastián. Esa misma mañana, el mayor Mauricio Jesús Beltrán Granados, jefe del Departamento de Inteligencia de la Quinta Brigada, a las órdenes del coronel José Emilio Chávez Cáceres, jefe de la Quinta Brigada, ordenó la ejecución de los diez en una emboscada ficticia.
