Description: View of Le Conte Junior High School, located at 1316 North Bronson Avenue, while it was under contruction. A group of workers are seen on the left side, next to the largest of the two sets of scaffolding.; The school, which opened in 1922, was named in honor of Joseph Le Conte, the geologist and physician who died in Yosemite in 1901. Some of Hollywood's famous, such as Yvonne De Carlo, Betty Grabel, Nanette Fabray, Yvette Mimieux, Stuart Whitman, Mitzi Gaynor, Carol Burnett and Jody Foster, attended Le Conte. In the late 1980s the school was renamed Joseph Le Conte Middle School.
