Interior view of Mellon 1st Business Bank. It shows a desk, possibly either an information desk or check-in counter, beautiful ceiling moldings, and equally beautiful columns and floors. The 26-floor high-rise bank building is located at 400 S. Hope Street, in the financial district of Downtown. It was designed and completed in 1982 by Welton Becket and Associates and is home to McKinsey & Company. Architect Welton Becket is considered to be a major key player in introducing modern architecture to Los Angeles. The Los Angeles Times has called him "L.A.'s Invisible Builder". McKinsey & Company, a management-consulting firm founded by James O. McKinsey in 1926, currently serves three of the world's five largest companies and two-thirds of the Fortune 1000.
