Description
Photograph of the first house in Hollywood, California, ca.1905. The long, one-story building can be seen largely obscured by plant foliage. A bush can be seen blocking the narrow wall of the house at left, while trees and tall growing garden plants block most of the view of the front porch. Stones line the driveway leading to the house as well as a small flower bed on the narrow side of the house, and mountains can be seen in the background. The house itself, known as "The Outpost", was built in 1855 by Don Tornas Urquidez, at what is now 7061 Franklin Street. It was demolished in 1924.
