Description
The woman on the left wears a blue-green redingote with leg-of-mutton sleeves, a tassel-trimmed cape collar, and a belt with a large, ornate. oval buckle. The dress has pointed, lace-edged cuffs and a line of tassel-trimmed chevrons down the front. The woman wears a brooch with a pink stone and a standing white lace ruff collar. Her brown boots are patterned with green, and she wears white gloves and holds a lace-edged handkerchief in her left hand. The woman wears a beaded fillet in her hair and a pink hat trimmed with lacy, pink-dotted, white ribbon, and sheaves of green wheat. Her hair is in large bunches of curls with an asymmetrical parting. Her companion sits in an armless open-backed chair with a yellow woven cane seat. She faces away from the viewer and wears the same garment as her companion, but in pink. Her hat is yellow with a deep, upturned brim. It is trimmed with lace, bows of dotted white ribbon, and golden sprays of wheat. "15 Mai 1831" is written in pencil in the lower right.
