Scandinavian children's May Eve Festival (Fanborga-messo Afton) and Picnic was held on April 30th, Woodward's Gardens. Consisted of processions, singing, dancing and performances -- San Francisco Alta, April 30, 1873, p. 1. May Eve Festival originally celebrated in much of northern Europe.
