Photographic portrait of James Marshall, California, [s.d.]. Mr. Marshall is pictured here in bust in three-quarters profile facing right. He has long, straight, salt-and-pepper hair and a matching beard. His face shows a few prominent wrinkles and weathering, and he has a prominent lower lip. He wears a dark jacket, light shirt and a dark, ribbon bowtie. He discovered gold at Coloma in 1848.
