Pan Pacific Auditorium was located at 7600 Beverly Boulevard in the Fairfax district. Its green and white western-facing 228 foot long facade featured four stylized towers and flagpoles meant to represent upswept aircraft fins above the entrance. Designed by architects Wurdemann & Becket, it was one of America's finest examples of Streamline Moderne architecture. From 1935 to 1972, when it was closed after the Los Angeles Convention Center opened, it held numerous sporting events, rallies, circuses, and car shows. After years of neglect and failed attempts at restoration, the structure was destroyed by fire in 1989. Pan Pacific Park is now located at this site. Photograph article dated February 21, 1963 partially reads, "Outside the Pan Pacific Auditorium in Los Angeles, Friday will probably be a typical day. The traffic will be heavy, there will be a good deal of man-made noise, chances are the air will be polluted with smog, and the usual mixture of steel, cement, glass and neon signs will surround the auditorium at 7600 Beverly Blvd. Inside, however, things will be different. Beginning tomorrow, Nature will stage a 10-day comeback in the center of the city. The occasion will be the Third Annual Los Angeles World Flower and Garden show. On display will be more than 100,000 square feet of gardens and flowers including a 400-square-foot Japanese garden complete with waterfall, rocks, pond and an Oriental hut."
