A group of men in sailor suits stands in the front of the read arranged in two lines, trailing what appears to be a cannon. Behind them, a single rank of riflemen in military uniforms is led by their instructor. Horsemen can be seen further down the unpaved street. Onlookers stand to either side, and houses are visible in the background. Text appears to have been edited out of the image at the bottom left.
