Description
The Golden Gate International Exposition at Treasure Island ran from 1939-1940. The Roeding family participated with their nursery exhibit at the exposition and also held a nurserymen meeting at the nursery. The 'Golden State' rose, a Meilland/Pyle introduction was introduced at the fair. Footage includes: Flower arrangements by Frances Roeding, wife of George Roeding, Jr.; Daffodil test garden showing more than 100 varieties; Golden State, the Official Rose of Golden Gate International Exposition. Van Der Cruyssen; Azalea vervaeneana Alba — A rare variety; Golden State, The Official Rose of the Golden Gate International Exposition; Two girls (the younger listed as Charlene Fournier in the newspaper) and Marie Warenskiold showcase the 'Golden State' rose at 10:30. Can says "Reel no 2 1939 edition Tulips" so this might have been shown at the world's fair or to garden clubs. Someone has taped this on the can "1939 Flower arrangement; Daffodil test gardens showing more than 100 varieties tulips & daffodils"
