Description
Anne & George Elkington stand in front of the family home, 1940s or early 1950s. Anne Gertrude Elkington, born March 1894 in Salinas, California. Retired from the Salinas Post Office in 1952 after 35 years. Before working at the Post Office, Anne worked at Logan's Music Store. According to her brother Henry Happ she played piano to demonstrate sheet music. Anne is with her husband Arthur George Elkington who was born in August 9,1887 and worked at the Salinas Post office until he retired in 1952 after 25 plus years. George was born in San Francisco. He first had a small tire shop on Sausal Street (Market Street) in Salinas in 1926. He also farmed at one point in Alisal. Anne Gertrude Happ Elkington and Arthur George were the parents of Anna Gertrude Elkington, Arthur George Elkington, Jr. and Cecelia Elkington. The Elkingtons lived in Salinas and the children were born there. This information was provided by Anna Elkington.
