Description
Title supplied by cataloger.
Spectators sit on benches as they watch the carousel spin, one of the many rides at The Pike amusement park south of Ocean Blvd. in Long Beach. Posted signs read "Aduls & children 10 cents. All children must pay full fare".; Started in 1902, The Pike ran until 1979. In 1911, Charles I. D. Looff installed the carousel and he and his family began to live above it. The carousel burnt to the ground in 1943 but the building remained.
