Astronomers mural by Hugo Ballin, opposite the entrance. The astronomers stand against a black sky peppered by stars. Arab astronomy transported by the Moors of Spain flourished in Cordova and Toledo. From Toledo to Toletan Tablets, drawn up by Arzachel in 1080, took their name. Their appearance signaled the dawn of European science, and was nearly coincident with the Shpaera Mundi, a text on spherical astronomy by John Hollywood (Johannes Sacro Bosco) in 1256. Next to him is Copernicus, 1473-1543, the founder of modern astronomy. Next to him is Galileo, 1564-1642, looking through his telescope. In the right third of the panel is a modern relcting telescope, and in the corner above, a giant spiral nebula.
