Dr. H. Gordon Bayless was a homeopathic practictioner in Los Angeles, near downtown. In August, 1933, two men attempted to rob him for a second time. The doctor was ready for them and slashed one of the men with a dagger from his collection.
Photograph caption dated August 30, 1933 reads "Dr. H. Gordon Bayless and dagger used on robbers." The doctor is shown holding a dagger with an ornate handle.
