Caption dated January 13, 1964 reads, "Mike Romenik,14, North Hollywood, checks to see if anyone was injured Sunday when a broken fire hydrant spouted water on Ledge Avenue north of Riverside Drive in North Hollywood. Patricia Ostendorf, 36, 4616 Ledge Ave., hit the hydrant after her brakes failed and her car veered to the side of the street. Water began spraying the street at 12:10 p.m. and finally was turned off at 12:40 p.m. The woman was not injured."
